The GFWC supports thousands of organizations worldwide. What’s your passion? Is there a cause that is near and dear to your heart? Chances are that one of these six departments will be able to help that organization. The goal of all the Committees is to get the membership involved, get acquainted and work on worthwhile projects for local, statewide and international communities.
GFWC programs and projects focus on the major issues of our time—supporting women’s health, preserving natural resources, promoting literacy and equality, and encouraging volunteer service—and fall into the following areas of focus:
The Arts Committee
2009-10 Committee Chair: Kris Duncan
These programs provide a framework for clubwomen to pursue a variety of artistic interests while simultaneously educating their communities on the important role art plays in our lives.
This year's initial project is still undecided, however, the Arts Committee has a wide variety of creative and fun projects to choose from. The Committee will be selecting a project from Clubmember's suggestions. Some ideas include table decoration contests and annual craft shows; the possibilities are limitless.

Programs in GFWC's Conservation Department are designed to inspire clubwomen to establish and implement environmental awareness programs in their communities.
This department’s initial project will involve animal rescue and/ or The Humane Society. Committee Chair, Leah Turner, has a passion for animals and is focused on creating better environments for all animals nationwide. Specific details of the project will be determined by the group.

The Education Committee
2009-10 Committee Chair: Bobbi Govanus
The GFWC Education Department encourages clubwomen to create learning opportunities for themselves and their communities through volunteerism.
This is the arm of GFWC that seeks to further learning in our society. GFWC has a strong history of building libraries and making books accessible to people of all ages. Project possibilities are varied endless. Tutoring, English As a Second Language (ESL), Reading, Scholarships.... there are truly so many opportunities in this area.
The first project will be to read the book "Give a Goat" in schools and libraries around the Four Corners area. this is in the hope of inspiring young people to see beyond their classroom and realize we can make a difference. We are collecting funds to buy a supply of these books to leave one in each classroom we work with and visit. Please contact us if you are interested in donating funds, or your time, to this worthy cause.
In November of 2009, some of the members of the GFWC Four Corners Jr. Women's Club volunteered to visit area classrooms, teach brief lesson-plans and read "Give A Goat". This was an incredible experience for our members as well as their new, young students.

The International Affairs Committee
2009-10 Committee Chair: Joan DeMadona
GFWC's International Affairs Department allows clubs to reach beyond their own communities through education and global awareness.
The Club will be supporting the Farm Worker Ministry. These migrant workers pick our fruits and vegetables, travel from state to state, and receive very little pay for long days of labor- intensive jobs. They pay taxes, live in sub standard conditions and most of them wish for better lives for their children. We will be asking our members to donate slightly used or new shoes, clothing, blankets, jackets or any practical item for adults and children. In addition, furniture and mattresses are always welcome.

The Public Affairs Committee
2009-10 Committee Chair: Donna Tomko
In 2009-10, our project for this committee will be "Coupons for Our Troops", better known as — "Coups for Troops".
We have proudly "adopted" the United States Army base in Schweinfurt, Germany.
We are asking everyone to save all unused coupons and bring them to each of our monthly meetings. If possible, please separate them into "food" and "non-food" categories.
Get your friends and family to do the same. On the Army base, the commissary and PX will honor coupons that are within 6 months of their expiration date.
This is not a tax deductible charity. This is a patriotic charity. You are supporting our service people and their families by collecting coupons that you do not use. Although service pay rates are no longer below poverty level, they are in no way great when you have a family. Our military service families appreciate your assistance. This is a great opportunity to help our troops abroad! If you would like more detailed information regarding the criteria for the coupons, please visit >>www.ocpnet.org
